Callmi: 1:1 Expert Mentorship Marketplace for the MENA Region
Callmi is a high-performance on-demand mentorship platform designed to bridge the gap between aspiring professionals and the Middle East's most influential industry leaders. The platform facilitates direct 1:1 video consultations, allowing users to skip the "trial and error" phase of their careers by gaining insights from verified founders, operators, and investors.
Careers in the Gulf compound through access. The operators, founders and investors worth an hour of your time are reachable in principle and unreachable in practice, and the gap between those two states is where most early-career guesswork happens.
Callmi made that hour bookable. Verified founders, operators and investors published availability and a rate; users booked a slot, paid through Stripe, and met over 1:1 video. The product’s job was to make the transaction boring: calendars that reflect real availability, payment captured before the call, and a verification step that keeps the expert side credible.
It was built on Next.js and TypeScript over PostgreSQL, with Stripe handling payments, payouts and the refund path when a session did not happen.

The supply side is curated rather than open. On a marketplace selling access, an unvetted expert list destroys the value of every other listing.
