DistrictX Mobile App

DistrictX is a specialized B2B mobile marketplace designed to digitize the traditional jewelry trade floor. It connects gemstone wholesalers, diamond manufacturers, and retailers in a secure, high-speed ecosystem. The mobile app focuses on the "immediacy" of the jewelry market, allowing traders to list inventory and fulfill time-sensitive sourcing requests (RFQs) directly from their smartphones.

Overview

The web platform proved the model; the trade floor is mobile. Dealers on 47th Street are walking between offices with stones in their pocket, and a sourcing request that takes an hour to answer has usually already been filled by someone else.

The iOS app carries the marketplace into that pace. Traders list inventory from the phone, upload high-resolution video of a stone, run a dynamic search across current supply, and negotiate over real-time 1:1 chat with file sharing: the WhatsApp workflow dealers already had, but attached to actual inventory records and dealer pricing.

It is built in React Native and TypeScript on gluestack, sharing the platform’s data model so listings, pricing tiers and counterparties stay consistent between web and mobile rather than drifting into two products.

What we did
01

Video-first listings

High-resolution video upload from the handset, because a diamond is sold on how it moves under light, not on a still photograph.

02

Real-time 1:1 negotiation

Direct messaging with file sharing, so the conversation that closes a deal sits against the listing instead of in a separate app.

03

One data model across web and mobile

Shared inventory, dealer pricing and identity between the two clients, so the mobile app extends the platform rather than duplicating it.

Result

Released on the App Store as the first mobile jewelry marketplace built for the NYC Diamond District. Early reviews single out the same thing: it consolidates trading that was previously spread across WhatsApp group chats.
